There are numerous ways of travelling around the world. So why talk only about travelling Canada in eco-friendly ways? Canada with its waterfront cities and open spaces gives many easy options to travellers looking to walk in harmony with nature. Ecotourism is a way of travelling while being sensitive to natural resources, their value and tracking our carbon footprint as we travel to different places of the world.

The first national park of Canada. The national park with its humble beginning starting as a 26 square km hot spring to now the sprawling 6,641 square kilometres it covers. The park was inculcated as a UNESCO world heritage site as part of the Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks in the year 1984. The park is located in the Rocky Mountains of Alberta, to the west of Calgary. The national park borders British Columbia to its east where Yoho and Kootenay National park are adjacent to Banff National Park. On the western side, the park shares borders with Jasper National Park which is also situated in Alberta.

Canada’s widespread national parks and numerous lakes located just around its busiest cities make it one of the best countries to explore the beautiful outdoors in the simplest way possible, without taking the extra burden of facing the harsh side of nature in exploring its exquisite natural wonders. Lakes and rivers located at the heart of many national parks and the good comfort of the cities by another end, Canada is home to such wonderful places which could make you lost in nature’s magic just when you ask for it!

Canada is home to a plethora of lakes, especially the five great lakes of North America which are Lake Superior, Lake Huron, Lake Michigan, Lake Ontario, and Lake Erie. Some of the lakes are shared between the USA and Canada. The west of Canada is the place to be if you want to explore the waters of all these lakes. The serenity and calmness that lakes offer are unsurpassed, the lakeside offers spectacular views in Canada. Canada is estimated to have over 30000 lakes. Most of them allow you to explore their waters through paddling, swimming, canoeing, and during winters you can also ski on some of the frozen lake

Newfoundland and Labrador is one of Canada’s Atlantic Provinces. If you want to visit some unconventional tourist spots like L'Anse aux Meadows (oldest european settlement in North America), Terra Nova National Park in Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador is the place for you. The easternmost province of Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador is one of Canada’s Atlantic Provinces, that is, provinces situated on the Atlantic Coast in Canada. Newfoundland is an insular region, that is, it is made up of islands, whereas Labrador is a continental region that is inaccessible for the most part.

New Brunswick is a popular tourist destination in Canada, most of its attractions being by the coast. Its national parks, salt water beaches, tidal bores, whale watching, water sports, historic towns and museums, and hiking trails and campgrounds bring tourists here all year round. Part of Canada’s Atlantic Provinces, that is, the Canadian provinces that are located on the Atlantic Coast, or Maritime Provinces, New Brunswick is Canada’s only bilingual province, with half its citizens being Anglophones and the other half being Francophones.

Manitoba has a lot of sights and things to offer to tourists from beaches, lakes, and provincial parks to cultural landmarks and other entertaining spots in the cities such as Winnipeg. Situated at Canada’s longitudinal centre, Manitoba is a prairie province of Canada, the first of only three ones, the other ones being Alberta and Saskatchewan. Like a lot of places in Canada, Manitoba has got a diverse terrain and landscape, with arctic tundra, the coastline of the Hudson Bay, a boreal or coniferous snow forest, and of course, prairie farmland, which includes temperate grasslands or savannahs.

Quebec is Canada’s biggest Francophone province where the only official language of the province is French. The largest province of Canada, Quebec, along with Ontario, which is the most populous province of Canada while Quebec is the second most populous, is part of Central Canada, not geographically, but owing to the political importance the two provinces hold in Canada.

The capital city of the province of British Columbia in Canada, Victoria is a city situated at the very southern tip of Vancouver Island, which is an island in the Pacific Ocean that’s situated on Canada’s West Coast. Lying at the southern end of Western Canada, Victoria is only a little distance away from Washington in the United States. Surrounded by mountains and the ocean, Victoria is known for its pleasant, snow free, temperate climate, in fact, the mildest climate in all of Canada, and the beauty of its shoreline and beaches.

Ontario, along with Quebec, is located in Central Canada, and is the most populous and second largest province in Canada, larger than the state of Texas in the United States. It is an important province in Canada owing to the fact that in it are located two of the most important metropolitan cities of Canada, Ottawa, the capital city of Canada, and Toronto. From metropolises to the cottage country, Ontario has got it all. Other than urban centres and rural regions, the province is also home to lakes and waterfalls, trails and hills for skiing and other winter sports, and the wilderness in the provincial and national parks in Ontario where apart from witnessing the mighty nature you can also participate in many recreational activities.
