Canada launches COVID-19 Proof of Vaccination for travel
As COVID-19 vaccination rates rise across much of the world and international travel resumes, countries including Canada have begun requiring proof of vaccination as a condition of travel.
Canada is launching a standard proof of COVID-19 vaccination system and this will become mandatory for Canadians wanting to travel outside from November 30th 2021. So far, COVID-19 vaccination proof in Canada has varied from province to province and has meant receipts or QR codes.
A standardised proof-of-vaccination
This new standardised proof-of-vaccination certificate will Canadian national's name, date of birth and COVID-19 vaccine history — including which vaccine doses were received and when they were inoculated. It will not contain any other health information for the card holder.
The new proof of vaccination certificate was developed by territories and provinces working together with federal Government of Canada. It will be recognized everywhere within Canada. As of October 30th 2021, you will be required to show your proof of vaccination when travelling within Canada by air, rail or cruise. The new proof of vaccine certificate is already available in Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec and will be soon coming to Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick and rest of the provinces and territories.
Canada itself has recently eased Covid-19 restrictions and reopened its borders to international travelers bearing proof of vaccination using the ArriveCan app and has waived quarantine requirements for returning Canadian travelers as well as international travellers who can prove they are fully vaccinated.
